I Allen, I got a note from Dee Muller this morning saying that you had been in contact with the folks at Fresh Start about their program. I had the procedure done on March 16 of this year, 60 days on Saturday, and have neither touched a drink, nor have I had any great desire for one in that time.

First let me give you a bit of background. I am 55 years old and had been drinking for the better part of 40 years. For the past 25 years or so I was an everyday drinker with the only exception being the occasional 24 hours or so before some medical procedure or another. Other than that every day. During the past few years my construction company pretty much ground to a standstill which allowed me to drink a lot more often and earlier. I finally came to the realization that I was just tired, partially from the economy, and partially from the drinking. I knew I drank way too much, and over a period of months had been trying to figure out some way to quit. I knew I was powerless to just stop, but I would try now and then and would make it a few hours. My willpower, or lack thereof, would soon crumble and I would just have a beer. It was easy and comfortable.

While bouncing from one story to another on the computer one night, I ran across an article about this company located in Perth, Australia and the Naltrexone implants they were having success with. I did some research over the next few weeks about the company and the drug and finally came to the realization that possibly this is what I was looking for. My thought was, and still is, that if this implant procedure could give me some sort boost, reinforce my willpower, just maybe I could do it. After a few more weeks of soul searching, my wife and I decided that this was the poker hand we would go all in on. Our thought was that if it didn't work, we had lost nothing but money, although that was in pretty short supply, but the upside was tremendous. After a few e-mails and phone conversations with Alyssa and Maria, we arrived in Santa Ana on the afternoon of the 15th. We met with Alyssa that afternoon, Dr. Alex that evening and had the procedure done the following evening. The surgery itself is very straight forward, probably a half hour total, and painless with a local.

I woke up the following morning feeling fine, and my wife and I went about our day of exploring the area (we are from Boston). The amazing thing is this, and may God be my witness, I had no desire for a drink. I kept waiting for the familiar feeling in my gut that said it was time, but it never came. The days went on, and I was not only not drinking, but not missing it. All I can say, is that whatever these Naltrexone implants are, they work. I have now been about 60 days sober and felling great, not only physically, but about myself.

Allen, I could go on all night, although it probably seems like I already am, about the benefit of not only the procedure, but the follow up attention given by the staff at Fresh Start. We met with our councilor, Oliver Maxwell, every day about what we were to do going forward, and he gave us the foundation from whence to build. Alyssa and Maria kept tabs on us as did Dr. Alex and his staff. They all come well recommended by the Conways. On our last day in California we also had the good fortune to meet Dee and Neil Muller who are doing wonderful things getting Fresh Start off and running.

If you are at that same point I was a few months ago, I really do believe this is the right way to go. This has truly given me the helping hand I was looking for and It seems to be getting easier as time goes on.

Thank you F.S.P. from the bottom of my heart, I really appreciate the help that you have given my wife and I. Fresh Start Private, helped to get my wife well again. Without the help from Fresh Start Private, I don't think Daphne and I would be together today.
