Alcohol Rehabilitation Treatment :: Alcohol Damage Withdrawal :: How long an alcohol withdrawal can take to be cured and treated?
Alcohol withdrawal can be said whenever a person drinks alcohol, the body of that person gets adjusted according to the alcohol. If the person stop drinking suddenly, the symptoms that appears is know and classified as withdrawal. Most people who've ever ingested enough alcohol to become intoxicated have to deal with the more mild symptoms of alcohol withdrawal, which can be also referred collectively as a hangover.
Who drink more alcohol, or who are long-time or habitual with these alcoholic drinks, the symptoms of withdrawal can be much worse, and potentially life-threatening, since the body has to readjust in a more extreme fashion to the lack of alcohol. The alcohol symptoms can be classified into the following.
Mild symptoms of alcohol withdrawal are common among those who are light, social or casual drinkers. Anxiety, agitation, insomnia, loss of appetite, headache, nausea and others are all common. Though they vary from person to person, mild symptoms tend to peak 12 to 24 hours after alcohol ingestion has stopped, and have usually ceased completely within 48 hours of the end of an episode of alcohol consumption.
Those who are binge drinkers, or who are steady, continuous, heavy drinkers, will likely experience more severe signs of withdrawal. These individuals are usually classified as addicted, and their bodies cannot properly function without the presence of alcohol. The symptoms can be similar to those of occasional users, though in much more severe form, but can also include hallucinations, disorientation and confusion. The worst part of this phase of withdrawal is often referred to as the delirium tremens. More severe symptoms tend to peak for long hours after a person stops drinking. Even more extreme reactions occur in fewer than 5 percent of people going through alcohol withdrawal, who need a weeks- or months-long regimen of drug treatment before their withdrawal is complete.
