Isopropyl alcohol does not cause any gap (in which as lowered blood serum pH causes depletion of an anion) as do ethanol and methanol. Overdoses may cause a fruity odor in the breath as a result of its metabolism to acetone, which is not further metabolized. By a deep consideration of the above mentioned facts about formaldehyde it can be clearly said that it is poisonous.
