Fresh Start Private (FSP) was founded in Australia by Neil Muller and Dr. George O'Neil in 2004 to provide worldwide access to the innovative addiction treatment work pioneered by Dr. O'Neil through his initial Fresh Start clinic.* The decision to establish FSP was triggered by Mr. Muller's fiancée's successful recovery from alcoholism with the assistance of Dr. O'Neil's unique treatment program. Witnessing his fiancée's rapid and remarkable recovery at Fresh Start -- which was in stark contrast to the couple’s countless failed experiences with other alcohol treatment programs -- had a powerful impact on Mr. Muller. He became very passionate about sharing Dr. O'Neil’s novel approach to beating alcoholism with others and helping them experience the joys of recovery. In conjunction with Dr. O’Neil, other medical specialists and FSP’s chief executive officer Michael Twohill and director of patient relations Maria Chiam, Mr. Muller created FSP’s comprehensive program focused exclusively on the treatment of alcohol addiction.

Dr. O'Neil began providing patients with his proprietary naltrexone implant** during the mid-1990s and has since successfully treated more than 1,600 addiction patients (both drug and alcohol). His state-of-the-art biodegradable implant offers patients uninterrupted access to more than six months of naltrexone therapy, helping them to dramatically curb their cravings for alcohol and/or narcotics and successfully recover from their addictions. For years, Dr. O'Neil did his best to provide patients with the implant in combination with other support services (housing, spiritual support, etc.) on a case-by-case basis. However, due to his work as a practicing physician, he was unable to dedicate the time to developing and administering a formal recovery program designed specifically for alcoholism. Sensing the need for such a program and the ability to bring Dr. O'Neil's addiction treatment expertise to alcoholics throughout the world, Mr. Muller, along with Mr. Twohill and Ms. Chiam, spearheaded the establishment of FSP.

Today, FSP offers patients a first-of-its-kind comprehensive alcohol treatment program that features the only naltrexone implant for the treatment of alcohol addiction in the world that has been approved for use by a regulatory body. In addition to Dr. O'Neil's innovative implant, the program includes the proprietary On-Purpose® Fresh Start Coaching Program, our Family and Friends Rebuilding Program & Retreat, and our Continuing Care Program.
